So today I went into Midtown Comics at 8:45 am and was one of two people there and I bought She-Hulk #1 and #2 and Captain Marvel #1.
inaneenglish is helping me pick lady-centric comics.
Yay! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the comics :D :D :D
You have Black Widow too, right?
I am!! Thank you :)
I do! I got #4 last week.
:D Hawkeye is also more or less lady-centric in that it’s as much Kate’s book as it is Clint’s.
If you want to venture into creator-owned books, the following are good lady-centric titles:
- Velvet by Ed Brubaker (pulpy spy series)
- Lazarus by Greg Rucka (dystopian future with badass lady)
- Pretty Deadly by Kelly Sue DeConnick (Horror/Western about Death’s daughter laying waste to men who wrong women)
I remember you telling me about Pretty Deadly! It sounds really good. Also, I know you love Brubaker so Velvet must be great, and Lazarus just sounds cool.
GOODBYE, MONEYS. :p
Talk to wraparoundcurl about Velvet! She just started reading it and loves it too.
You’ll love Velvet! The art in it is gorgeous. And thus far the story has been wonderful. The lead character is a nice departure because its not about some little twentysomething. It’s a woman who has earned and worked for a career as a spy. Her hair is also incredible. The premise of it is basically “don’t you think in the Bond films Moneypenny had more going on than JUST the secretary?” And thus, Velvet.
I need to add Pretty Deadly and Hawkeye to my list.
I love that we have stories to talk about!
Seconding/Thirding all of these recs. Velvet especially is outstanding. And Pretty Deadly. Honestly, it’s really hard to go wrong with DeConnick and Brubaker.
